AUGUST 2005

The 27th anniversary of Cruinniú na mBád (gathering of boats, or geallta na mBád) was held in Kinvara in early August 2005. This festival has been run every year since 1979.

Galway Hookers

  • You will see the following boats; Galway Hookers, Pucans, Half Hookers, Gleotóga Mhora, Gleotóga Beaga, West Cork boats, West Cork boats, Sand Boats, Zulu's, Balis, Nobby's, Currach's, Naomhóga, Traditional Sailing Yacht and a mixture of pleasure crafts.

Climini

  • The Climiní Race attracts loads of interest; not least because the Climiní themselves are unusual (wrapped seaweed with the bubbles trapped in the seaweed keeping it afloat). Two men “drive” using wattle stick.
